AUTUMN TERM 2017

Our theme this term is 'Into the Woods'.

Our project this term has a literacy focus with traditional fairy tales, including Hansel & Gretel and Red Riding Hood, being used as stimulus for our creative work.  We will also be reading the 'Owl Who Was Afraid of the Dark'.

Children will learn about woodland creatures by raising questions and researching.  In geography we will find out about our local area, including Carmarthen Park.  In science we will be learing about the interdependence of organisms and the properties of materials.  We will also be considering environmental issues including problems of litter, reducing and recycyling.

During this project, children will write recounts of familiar stories and begin to understand diary style.  We will write persuasive text, includng posters.  In addition, we will respond to literature through drama and art.

In this project the children will learn:

+ To understand maps and routes of familiar places

+ Use scientific and mathematical skills to observe, record and present information

+ How to care for the environment

+ Use design skills to create from recycled materials

+ Work as part of a team

+ How to recount and write persausive texts.

Our RE topics are 'Beginnings - People'.  We will learn about how we are all part of the family of God and how God's love is constant.  We will consider how the church is made of people who are instruments of God's love, when they remember gospel values in the way Jesus  taught.
